Overall we have had a very smooth restart of school today. Attendance has varied and of course we have had some very upset parents but most kids are in school and learning is occurring.   
 
While it pains me to do so I feel that the safest course of action for tomorrow, January 8, 2009 is another late start. The late start gives our kids more light and de-conflicts kids and buses with heavy traffic flows.   
 
Schools will again open at the regular time to  accommodate parents  who need to drop students off but instruction and buses will run two hours late.   
 
Again, parents who deem it unsafe for their children to travel to school will be able to excuse the absence. 
 
As it currently stands we have four days of school to make up. We all need to work together to make sure these make up days have the greatest impact on learning and the least impact on families and staff. If you have an opinion about how to best accomplish this, please send me a brief note (e-mail). Your input is important in addressing this situation.
