[EVSD News] Superintendent's Message..Snow Make-Up Days

Thank you all for the very positive responses you have made to my request for input on how best to make up snow days.  My office received over 100 e-mails on this subject. I am truly heartened and uplifted by the support that everyone has shown me with regard to this situation.   
 
Based on the feedback that has been received we will make up school on February 17, 18, 19 and June 19, 2009.   I understand this will be an imposition to many people, both families and staff.  I encourage families who need to miss this make-up time to let their teachers know as soon as possible.  
 
We are not using Friday, February 20th as a make up day because we are concerned about having enough substitutes to cover all classes.  This is a very high use day for substitutes in the valley school districts.      
 
On the subject of substitutes; we are working with our neighboring districts to keep the number of available substitutes high, there is a really good likelihood that I and other certificated central office administrators will be working in classrooms.  We will be doing this to provide support to our staff that has made plans that cannot be changed and to mitigate some costs that might be associated with these make-up days.  I mention this because we might be a little hard to reach during these three days, but if you leave a message we will get back to you.
