The purpose of this newsletter is to update you on events that are
happening in the district, provide information to address issues or
rumors and provide you a forum to communicate with me on items of
interest. If you are receiving this e-mail you are either an East Valley
Staff member, you have signed up for this service, you have sent me an
e-mail or have had some form of contact that we think would cause you to
want this information. If you do not want to continue to receive this
information you may unsubscribe by clicking the link below or contacting
the district office.

Please accept my sincere and profound thanks for your support on the
EastValleySchool Districtlevy issue. In these tough economic times it
is reaffirming to see that the community stands behind the schools in
this district. Your support is particularly appreciated in light of the
fact that the district felt compelled, because of the budget deficits
facing the state, to ask you for more levy authority to make up the
anticipated state funding shortfalls.

Many of you also worked extremely hard on the bond campaign. While
this measure did not garner the 60% required to win approval, I thank
you for your work and ask that you keep your heads up. We do not yet
know what our direction with this measure will be for the future. We
must respect the fact that the voters in the district, the same voters
who have demonstrated such strong support for our schools, either did
not believe that this was the right measure or perhaps that it was being
run at the right time. It is my opinion that every person who took the
time to vote in this election showed support for our schools, even if
they voted “no”.

In the coming weeks we will be working to understand what factors led
to the rejection of this bond measure. I want to extend a particular
invitation to the voters who showed their support through a “no” vote to
share their issues, suggestions or concerns so that if we do decide to
move forward with a bond measure it represents the community taxpayers.

I again thank you for your support and dedication to our children. This
is an amazing community.

As always please do not hesitate to call or contact me with ideas,
suggestions or concerns. You can call me at the district office at
924-1830. You may also contact me via e-mail GlenewinkelJ at evsd.org. If
you follow this newsletter you know I also invite you to call me at home
but we are still in transition with our phone service. I will post my
new number as soon as it is working.

John
