I cannot express to you how happy Angel and I are to be part of this
great community. We have moved into our house/barn off of Gates Lane
and are truly enjoying ourselves. For those of you who do not know
much about me, I will take few moments to share a bit of my personal
life.
Angel, my wife and I have been married for about 23 years. We do not
have any children but Angel has two horses and together we have 5 bird
dogs; English setters. We looked long and hard to find a place that
would suit our housing needs and finally Angel set her heart on a place
that was advertised as a four bedroom, three bath home on 5 acres. The
place was billed as having access to horse riding trails.
When we first looked at the home it was little out of our price range
but as prices came down it became affordable and we took the plunge. It
turned out the “home” was a converted pole barn that had originally been
used to raise worms. We have been working diligently to tear out the
old living spaces and remodel a new living space. At this point we have
a working bathroom-almost all walls are enclosed, a passable bedroom and
a nice camp kitchen. The dogs, horses, my wife and I are very happy and
steadily working to incorporate lights that work off of switches into
the living space.
Next week might be a challenging week. We currently have all
classrooms covered. We will have a short week but I know the middle of
the week will be filled with productive learning activities. I
appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make up the
days we lost during the winter storms.
We continue to closely monitor the work that our state legislature is
undertaking right now. We are of course concerned that we will be
facing some very significant economic challenges next year. We will
keep you posted as we learn more.
In board action this week the directors had a wonderful presentation
from the Skyview/CCS music department. They acted on a curriculum
adoption and students at the high school will benefit from a new British
literature adoption. Following the regular meeting was a study session
to discuss the next steps with regard to a bond. No resolution was
reached.
As always please do not hesitate to call or contact me with ideas,
suggestions or concerns. You can call me at the district office at
924-1830. You may also contact me via e-mail GlenewinkelJ at evsd.org.
Still no land line.
John
